Reiki healing is a spiritual practice that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. It involves the
transfer of universal energy from the practitioner's palms to their patient's body, promoting emotional or
physical healing. The word "Reiki" is derived from two Japanese words: "rei," meaning universal, and "ki,"
meaning life energy or vital force.
Distance Reiki healing, also known as remote Reiki or absent Reiki, is a practice where Reiki energy is sent
across space and time to a recipient who is not physically present with the practitioner. This form of Reiki
is based on the belief that energy is not bound by physical limitations and can be directed to anyone,
anywhere in the world.
The process of distance Reiki typically involves the practitioner and the recipient arranging a specific time
for the session, although it can also be sent without a scheduled appointment. The recipient may choose to
relax in a quiet space during the session, but it's not necessary for them to be in a meditative state or
consciously focusing on the healing.
The practitioner may use various techniques to facilitate distance Reiki, such as
visualization, intention setting, or using a surrogate object to represent the recipient. They channel Reiki
energy just as they would during an in-person session, directing it to the recipient with the intention of
healing, balancing, and harmonizing their energy.
During a Reiki session, the practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above the recipient's body, in
various positions. The goal is to channel this healing energy to areas where it is needed most. The recipient
may feel sensations such as warmth, tingling, or relaxation during the session.
Reiki is often used to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and support the body's natural ability to heal
itself. While it is considered a holistic practice and not a replacement for conventional medical treatment,
many people find it beneficial for overall well-being and as a complementary therapy.
The practice of Reiki is based on the idea that imbalances or blockages in the flow
of life force energy can contribute to physical, emotional, or spiritual issues. By restoring balance and
facilitating the free flow of energy, Reiki aims to support healing on multiple levels.
